About

Our History

McGrath Moving & Storage began its journey in 2009, founded by James Maxwell, who saw a simple but overlooked need in the American moving market: genuine care for people’s belongings combined with clear, fair service. From day one, our mission has not been to dominate the industry but to build trust, one family and one business at a time.

Key Milestones

2009: James Maxwell started McGrath Moving & Storage with one truck, focusing on local apartment and house moves. Main priorities were clear timelines, protection of belongings, and transparent pricing.
2012: Added interstate and cross-town routes. Grew the fleet, hired more packers, began handling office and small business relocations.
2015: Opened a secure warehouse for short- and long-term storage. This allowed full moving cycles: pickup, storage, delivery.
2017: Introduced services for moving pianos, antiques, gym equipment, and commercial machinery. Every move included insurance to cover client property.
2020: Built stable crews, lowered turnover. Launched formal training and quality checks to keep work consistent across all jobs.
2022: Rolled out electronic contracts, online signatures, and GPS tracking. Clients could monitor move status and complete paperwork remotely.
2024: Enhanced climate control and security in storage. Expanded insurance options to cover everything from apartments to large offices. Standardized operations company-wide.
